Abstract
Quarry waste land restoration and reuse is an important part of China's ecological civilization construction. The key to scientifically determine the restoration mode of quarry waste land and enhance the well-being of the surrounding villagers is to clarify the villagers' perception of the use of the abandoned mine and their willingness to restore. This paper takes Jiawang District of Xuzhou City as an example, and selects four open pit quarry wastelands with villages within 500m as the research object, adopts deep field research and questionnaire methods to clarify villagers' willingness to use the quarry wastelands and their perceived preferences, including the frequency of use, type of activity, satisfaction level, restoration dimensions, restoration mode choice, payment willingness and price. Based on the results of the residents' demand, the "condition-model" reasoning method was used to construct a restoration model selection method for the abandoned quarry pits by selecting 15 conditions in two categories: pit itself conditions and surrounding environmental conditions. The results of the study show that: (1)The frequency of using the abandoned mining site is related to the accessibility of the abandoned pit, the degree of improvement of the existing facilities, and the aesthetic value of the landscape. 74% of the villagers who don't use the abandoned site think that the abandoned pit is unattractive, while more than 50% of the villagers interviewed in the abandoned quarry of Qishan village have been active in the vicinity of the pit for more than 30 min per week due to better infrastructures and accessibility; (2) As the unrehabilitated quarry has certain safety hazards and is mostly built on the mountain, with less flat land, most of the villagers who use the quarry pit only take walks in the abandoned land for recreational activities, with a small amount of agricultural cultivation; (3) There are differences in the willingness to pay for the rehabilitation of abandoned quarry land among villagers in various villages, and the villagers who have already enjoyed some of the dividends of environmental improvement brought about by the restoration have a higher willingness to pay, which also means that the higher the social benefits that the rehabilitated abandoned quarry land will bring into play after rehabilitation. (4) Finalize the suitability of four types of restoration modes for each village, including recreation and education mode, agricultural production mode, ecological nourishment mode, and industrial integration mode. This study is of great significance to the intensive utilization of mine land, the enhancement of mountain landscape and the sustainable restoration of mines.
